Well wearing fabrics such as heavy weight upholstery fabrics, cottons and linens will help prevent premature aging of upholstery.

Try to avoid purchasing flat pack furniture or "fast furniture" specifically for statement pieces such as dining room tables, bookcases, cabinets and coffee, sofa or side tables.

Consider repurposing used furniture pieces such as dressers, buffets, hall tables, dining tables and more with a coat of paint. Taking a dark cherry or mahogany hall table and painting it a heirloom white you've not only reduced waste but you have also created a new to you piece of furniture.
